The K-pop world was scarred in 2009 after the split of legendary K-pop group TVXQ. Now, six years later, two of the members reunited thanks to the Korean military.

On Oct. 2, TVXQ's Jung Yunho and JYJ's Kim Jaejoong attended the same performance at the Korean Ground Forces Festival in South Korea. The two cross paths while performing their duties, and were spotted by fans behind stage.

This is the first time that any of the three former members of TVXQ, who went on to form JYJ, was spotted with either of the remaining two members.

Yunho acted as the MC of the event, while Jaejoong performed during the festival. Videos revealed that Jaejoong took part in singing Korea's most famous song, "Arirang."

Photos that fans uploaded from the event showed the former bandmates interacting behind stage while waiting in a tent before and after their performance.

Last month, expectation rose for the potential reunion of TVXQ's Yunho with JYJ's Jaejoong and Park Yoochun. Yoochun did not appear to attend the event.

TVXQ debuted as a quintet under SM Entertainment in 2003 and rose to prominence as one of the most popular K-pop acts of all time.

In 2009, when three members of the group left and sued SM Entertainment due to contract issues, TVXQ was the most popular K-pop act in the world and is currently the best-selling K-pop act of all time.

In 2010, the three former TVXQ members formed a new group, JYJ, and have released music together since then, despite facing difficulties and being unable to appear on Korean broadcast networks reportedly due to pressure from SM Entertainment.

Since the split, no members of JYJ or TVXQ have been together publicly until the Oct. 2 performance.

Both Jaejoong and Yunho are currently serving in the Korean military.
